This policy explains what personal information QuantumDotter collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what rights you have over it. We’ve tried to write it in plain English rather than legal boilerplate.
Who we are
QuantumDotter is a trading name of Quantised Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16703765), whose registered office is 6 Grummant Road, London, SE15 5NQ.
Quantised Ltd is the data controller for the information described in this policy. If you have any questions about it, or want to exercise any of the rights below, email hello@quantumdotter.com.
What we collect
When you place an order
Your name, billing and delivery address, email address, phone number if you give one, and the details of what you ordered. We need all of this to take your order, have it made, and get it to you.
We never see or store your card details. Payments are handled entirely by Stripe — your card number goes directly to them and never touches our website.
When you create an account
Your name, email address, a password (stored encrypted, so we can’t read it), and your saved addresses and order history.
When you contact us or sign up for emails
Your name, email address and whatever you write to us. If you subscribe to our mailing list we keep your email address until you unsubscribe.
Automatically, when you browse
Your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you viewed and where you arrived from. This is ordinary web server and caching activity, used to keep the site working and secure.
Why we’re allowed to use it
Under UK GDPR we need a lawful basis for each use of your information:
- To perform our contract with you — processing and delivering your order, handling returns, and dealing with any problems.
- Our legitimate interests — keeping the site secure, preventing fraud, and improving what we sell and how the site works.
- Your consent — sending marketing emails, which you can withdraw at any time.
- Legal obligation — keeping records of sales for tax and accounting purposes.
Who we share it with
We don’t sell your information to anyone. We share it only with the companies that help us run the shop:
- InkThreadable (Hyper Merch T/A Inkthreadable, UK) — our print and fulfilment partner. They receive your name, delivery address and order details so they can make your item and post it to you. They cannot use your information for anything else.
- Stripe — our payment processor. They handle your card details directly and share only the outcome of the payment with us.
- Hostinger — our web host and email provider. Your information is stored on their servers.
- Omnisend — our email marketing provider. If you subscribe to our mailing list, your name and email address are stored with them so we can send you the emails you asked for. They are not given your payment details, and they cannot use your information for their own purposes.
- Royal Mail or another courier — your name and delivery address, so your parcel can be delivered and tracked.
We may also disclose information if we’re legally required to, for example in response to a court order.
Where your information is held
Your information is primarily stored and processed in the UK. Some of our providers — Stripe in particular — may process data outside the UK. Where that happens, they’re required to protect it to a standard equivalent to UK law, using safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or an adequacy decision.
How long we keep it
- Order and transaction records — six years after the end of the tax year they relate to, which is what UK tax law requires.
- Account details — until you ask us to close your account.
- Marketing subscriptions — until you unsubscribe.
- Emails and enquiries — up to two years, so we have context if you get in touch again.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- Ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
- Have inaccurate information corrected
- Ask us to delete your information, where we don’t have a legal reason to keep it
- Ask us to restrict how we use it
- Receive your information in a portable format, or have it sent to another provider
- Object to us using it on the basis of legitimate interests
- Withdraw your consent to marketing at any time

Cookies
We use cookies — small files stored by your browser — for a few specific things:
- Essential cookies keep your basket and your logged-in session working. The site can’t function without these.
- Performance cookies are set by our caching system so pages load quickly.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the shop — the basket in particular — will stop working if you block the essential ones.
Marketing
We’ll only email you about new designs and offers if you’ve asked us to — ticking a box at checkout or signing up on the site. We won’t add you to a mailing list just because you’ve bought something.
Marketing emails are sent through Omnisend, who store your name and email address on our behalf. Every email has an unsubscribe link and we’ll act on it immediately. Unsubscribing from marketing doesn’t stop order confirmations and delivery updates — we have to send those to fulfil your order.
Children
This shop isn’t aimed at children and we don’t knowingly collect information about anyone under 16. If you believe we have, tell us and we’ll delete it.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information we’ll update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is significant, we’ll tell customers directly.
